How to go through Bergamo
There are various ways how you can move in Bergamo, just like anywhere else. You can drive through the town with no restricted areas (there are many parking possibilities in the city centre or just outside), or you can book a taxi by a normal reservation system. Alternatively, you can use our local transport service, called ATB, Azienda Trasporti Bergamo. Routes and timetables can be checked clicking here: ATB. Beside these “modern” means of transport, there are 3 more, which combine technology, history and environment and which make Bergamo a European city having something in common with Grenoble or Lyon: the Funicular, the TEB, the bike hiring.

| THE FUNICULARS Bergamo is one of the few towns having two funiculars perfectly working. This is one of the peculiarities of Bergamo, having its original nucleus on the hills. Both funiculars started as a means to save the Old Town from its otherwise unavoidable isolation, and the aim was to facilitate the connections between the Città Alta and the remaining part of Bergamo. There are two lines, having in total three cars, which run yearly for 45000 km transporting 2.100.000 travellers. If you want to have some historical information on both funiculars, please click on the section "Le funicolari" in the web site of ATB. | |

TEB runs at the moment the line T1 Bergamo – Albino (in the seriana valley), and there are in its future two more lines T2 and T3. Routes and timetables can be seen in the ATB web site, in the page dedicated to the T1 line. The system was launched on 10th June 2009, in the presence of local and regional authorities, and of the current Ministry of Transport.
